Foreword from Chairman
The Sabah Land Development Board (SLDB) has been playing pivotal roles in the rural transformation programmes in Sabah, Malaysia, especially after the State Government’s decision to corporatize the state agency’s commercial operation in 1966.
At the forefront of SLDB activities are rural land development projects, mainly to assist the Government in implementing various socio-economic programmes, which are sustainable poverty reduction in nature. These includes the high-impact community-based rural land development schemes such as the Mini Estet Sejahtera (MESEJ) and the Communal Land Titles.
Indeed, poverty reduction in Malaysia, particularly Sabah, is a long-term work that is closely associated with the Federal and State’s Government socio-economic programmes, which aims to help the poor escape from poverty, as well as to balance economic growth between the rural and urban areas. With SLDB’s vast and proven expertise in the palm oil industry, I am confident that the agency is able to move forward with the new and challenging roles.
