Pandewan Scheme

The Pandewan scheme is located in the interior division of Sabah in the Pensiangan District launched by the Pendewan coordinator body. It was opened in 2009. The mandate to develop and manage the scheme was given to the SLDB purposely for the interest and benefit of the surrounding rural community. The SLDB expects the community oil palm development in Pandewan to improve the economic status of the communities by providing income opportunities through in-situ development.

The model of payment introduced in Pandewan scheme is also through the leasing system where dividends will only be given to the participants when the oil palm field is yielding. Apart from the oil palm pilot project, income diversification strategy was also introduced where in 2010 a Sandal wood project was launched by the SLDB in Kalas Village together with the introduction of sweet water fish pond project.
